Real Farmer Care:
Farmer Self-Care Grant

Since 2020, Real Farmer Care's flagship program has awarded self-care grants directly to farmers and ranchers, with no restrictions on how the money is spent. Farmers can apply online for two grant types:

  • Immediate Care Grant ($200): for a one-time self-care need, such as a massage, a therapy session, a gym or yoga membership, a night away from the farm, or new work boots.

  • Sustained Care Grant ($1,000): for ongoing care across a farming season, such as a series of therapy sessions, multiple chiropractic or bodywork appointments, or sustained mental health support. The Sustained Care Grant ($1,000) is not currently open for applications.

  •

More than 670 farmers across 46 states, plus Washington, D.C. and U.S. territories, have already received a grant. Each one chose exactly what care looks like for them.

Black Farmer Fund:
BFF Rapid Response Fund Application

The BFF Rapid Response Fund supports Black farmers and food business owners across the Northeast in emergency situations including but not limited to equipment breakdown, weather damage, transportation issues, safety issues, loss of crops/animals or damaged supplies. A community-led committee votes on the funding decisions.

  • Funding up to $10k maximum.

  • Please provide a specific dollar amount with your funding requests to cover ONE emergency (up to $10k or below) with an itemized budget breakdown of how the funds will be used.

New England Dairy:
Dairy Promotion Grant for Farmers

New England Dairy’s mission is to champion New England dairy farm families and the nutritious foods they produce. We accomplish this by promoting dairy, building trust among consumers, and celebrating all things dairy — farming, food, nutrition, and wellness.

Our dairy promotion grant program provides up to $2,400 annually for eligible individuals and organizations and supports activities that improve public perception of dairy farming and/or increase consumption of local dairy products.

Grassroots Fund:
SEED Grants

The Seed grant program is geared towards newly forming community groups. Most often, Seed grantee groups have been working on their project less than two years and usually don't yet have much direct experience with implementing the idea.

Seed grants prioritize support for community groups who represent a broad range of voices in their community and who are not being reached by other funders. The Grassroots Fund interprets the word 'environment' broadly and provides funding for a wide range of activities.

NH Food Alliance:
Rapid Outcomes from Agricultural Research

The Rapid Outcomes from Agricultural Research (ROAR) program deploys urgent funding to support research and outreach in response to emerging or unanticipated threats to the nation’s food supply or agricultural systems.

USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service:
Regenerative Pilot Program

This pilot program addresses whole-farm resource concerns through support for voluntary regenerative agriculture conservation plans. It also puts American farmers first as a part of the solution to Make American Healthy Again (MAHA) by supporting access to American-grown whole foods, critical to addressing the chronic disease crisis nationwide.

Wolfe's Neck Center:
Northeast Farmer Fund

The Wolfe’s Neck Center Northeast Farmers Fund is designed to support market access for regenerative products for farmers across the region.

Funding can support projects related to expanded regenerative production and market opportunities, including:

  • Equipment, infrastructure and tools to expand scale and diversity of products

  • Certification and verification

  • Post-harvest handling and value-added processing

  • Marketing, branding, packaging and distribution improvements that help farms access new or higher-value markets.

Sentient News:
Food and Farm Storytelling Fund

What the Food and Farming Storytelling Fund Offers:

  • Grants to produce original reporting and content

  • Support to build something of your own: launching or growing a newsletter, podcast or media platform

  • Trainings that support creator-led journalism models

  • Mentorship: support through the Food and Farming Journalism Network community

Airbnb & American Farmland Trust:
Farm to Stay Grant Program

Key Takeaways:

  • Airbnb and American Farmland Trust are partnering to launch the ‘Farm to Stay’ Grant Program, offering farmers and ranchers up to $10,000 to tap into the growing agritourism industry.

  • With the median small farm household in the U.S. losing approximately $2,800 from farming activity in 2024, new data shows that farmers and ranchers who host on Airbnb earned roughly $8,000 last year.

  • Demand for agritourism has grown sharply and consistently—Google Trends shows U.S. search interest for "farm stay" nearly quadrupled between 2016 and early 2026.

Northeast SARE:
Professional Development Grant Program

This program funds projects that help service providers improve the way they work with farmers through research-based education. These projects result in a change in practice or behavior by service providers that supports farmers in sustainable agriculture innovation

Northeast SARE:
Novel Approaches Grant Program

This program funds applied research projects that test the feasibility and benefits of new practices or approaches in agriculture. Projects must demonstrate farmer interest and potential for impact on sustainability, resilience, and viability in the Northeast.

Northeast SARE:
Research & Education Grant Program

Projects that result in farmer behavior or practice change leading to greater sustainability. Both an education program and farmer engagement are required. An applied research effort in alignment with educational activities is optional.

Northeast SARE:
Farming Community Grant Program

Projects that strengthen farming communities by addressing quality of life and social and economic challenges through farmer-driven collaboration and innovation.

USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service:
Environmental Quality Incentives Program

NRCS works one-on-one with producers to develop a conservation plan that outlines conservation practices and activities to help solve on-farm resource issues. Producers implement practices and activities in their conservation plan that can lead to cleaner water and air, healthier soil and better wildlife habitat, all while improving their agricultural operations. EQIP helps producers make conservation work for them. Financial assistance for practices may be available through EQIP.  Some producers may also qualify for advance payment.

Farm Credit East:
Food Access Infrastructure Initiative Grant

Farm Credit East's Food Access Infrastructure Initiative financially supports organizations such as food banks, food hubs and other non-profit food distribution and infrastructure organizations as they implement a new project to further food access in the Northeast. The grant funds must be used for capital projects to improve infrastructure, such as expanding cooler storage or increasing produce handling functionality.

National Young Farmers Coalition:
Next Generation Farmer Fund

We are very excited to announce the Next Generation Farmer Fund, a $1 million+ initiative providing direct financial support and technical assistance to beginning farmers and ranchers under the age of 40 who are stewarding land through sustainable farming practices. This program is made possible through a $500K dollar-for-dollar match from Whole Foods Market, which is available until November 30, 2026. We are currently seeking additional partners and donations to help us meet this match.

Agroforestry Coalition:
Agroforestry Nurseries to Connect & Network

The Agroforestry Coalition Nurseries Working Group (AFC-NWG) is accepting applications for a new seed-funding opportunity to help agroforestry nurseries connect, organize, and plan together at the regional level. The program will award grants of up to $3,000 per application. The funds support in-person gatherings that build relationships among nurseries and lay the groundwork for long-term cooperation.

Agroforestry depends on a steady supply of the right trees and shrubs, including nut trees, fruit trees, timber species, and native plants suited to integrated farming systems. Much of that supply comes from small and mid-size nurseries, and many of those nurseries work in isolation.
