Volunteer Opportunities
Below you will find volunteer opportunities for both the CCCD as well as other local organizations.
Chocorua Lake Conservancy
Outdoor Volunteer Morning
Date: April 16th
Time: 10am-12pm
Location: The Island, Chocorua Lake
Join CLC on Thursday, April 16, from 10 AM–12 PM to help care for a place beloved by so many. The shoreline along Route 16 has been conserved by CLC. Through the support of donors and volunteers, CLC makes this conservation land accessible to the public free of charge for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and enjoying the lake ecosystem. Public areas that receive heavy recreational use need regular stewardship to ensure safe access, water quality, and a healthy ecosystem. In the spring, after winter storms damage branches and trees, and the snowmelt exposes litter, the Chocorua Lake shoreline areas can look a little worse for wear. Before the leaves come out, it’s a good time to clear up fallen branches, check on the berms & swales that help protect lake water quality, and spread wood chips to help stabilize the shore during the busy seasons of many visitors and steady foot traffic. Many hands and eyes make light work. If you’re brave (and if the ice is gone by then), you could take a polar-ish plunge after!
Earth Day Highway Cleanup
Date: April 22nd
Time: 10am-11:30am
Location:
On Wednesday, April 22, from 8:45–10:30 AM, join Chocorua Lake Conservancy for our Earth Day Adopt-a-Highway Trash Cleanup along Route 16. Help us clean up plastics and other trash before they degrade and leach pollution into the lake. We’ll meet in the Grove by Chocorua Lake, near the Narrows Bridge at the end of Chocorua Lake Road close to Route 16, at 8:45 AM. Please come with gloves, good walking shoes, and wear bright, preferably day-glo clothing. CLC Outreach Coordinator Anna Paddock will provide trash bags and safety vests.
